The Joys of Hyperglycemia

Hello again. . . this will be a short post.

Two nights ago, my pump site ripped out of my arm in my sleep. I woke up feeling TERRIBLE. I stayed on a friend's couch and she was so kind in making sure I was ok. She helped me take the bus and the train back to my apartment, where I quickly got a new pump site in. The entire time I was violently retching - not pleasant at all. The entire day, I felt weak and shaky. I considered calling an ambulance several times because I could have been going into diabetic ketoacidosis, but I toughed it out. Luckily, I learned that someone I am living with is also a Type 1! It is comforting to know that he understands what might be happening with me. We are even on the same type of insulin! Although he uses a Medtronic pump while I am on a Tandem.

I still feel a bit off today, although I have some reading and writing to do for my internship. I am excited to jump in next week when everyone is back from vacation! It is a very pleasant and sunny 60 degrees here today (I still don't understand Celsius whoops). Much love to you all.
