MY WORK HERE IN SWEDEN

I just got off of a zoom call with the director of the organization that I am working with for these three months. The wholeness of the disability community here is strong, and Sweden is not as accessible as I thought. Accessibility means several different things, not just physical aspects. The shared attitude regarding disabled body-minds, the ability to live and move independently, to have autonomy while also having access to the support you need.

I will be working with some incredible people. I may even be traveling to Brussels in a few months to attend a European demonstration of disabled bodies.

It sounds like a lot of what I will be doing will be building community and understanding the nuances of accessibility not only here in Sweden, but across Europe. After one phone call, I cannot wait to jump in and give it my all. This organization is meaningful and impactful; I feel lucky to be working so closely with them.
